You can help us to help the South Island kōkako. Time is running out to save this species from extinction.

become a friend of the trust

The South Island kōkako needs friends.

We at the South Island Kōkako Charitable Trust will continue our efforts to confirm the bird’s presence in southern forests so that it can be conserved appropriately.

We invite you to become a Friend of the Trust for $100 a year, or a Friend for Life at $1000 to help us continue this important project.

We’ll be drawing one lucky Friend each year for a wonderful reward and the first one is a framed painting of a South Island kōkako painted and generously donated by Jos Browning.

Your support is greatly appreciated - every little bit helps - thank you!

SPONSOR A SEARCH

The Trust is exploring the possibility of launching one or two 'signature surveys'.  First we need to determine the most likely locations and then we'll put together a plan for the field work.  If you could sponsor or support such a survey to find the South Island kōkako, we'd love to hear from you.  Please contact the Trust for further information.

The Trust is considered a donee organisation for tax purposes, such that any gifts of money it receives from individuals and certain companies qualify for tax advantages. You can also claim tax back anytime within four tax years of the donation - read more from the IRD here.
